17th Century Fortress

The construction of this Fortress situated on the beach of Tamariz in Estoril, is dated back to the sixth century.
It was inserted into the costline defense fortifications and was intended to prevent a possible enemy landing for the purpose of the occupation of the capital.
It was purchased by the family of the current owners in the XIX century, and was part of the fashion movement that followed the king in his summer stay in Cascais. With a prime location and a wonderful view, Forte da Cruz became an icon of the Estoril Coast, being publicized and known worldwide.
